1. Review your unit 3 personal assessment of your psychological, physical, and spiritual well-being. Reflect on these areas . How did you score yourself on a scale from 1 to 10 in unit 3? How do you score yourself now? Has the score changed? Why or why not?
I do not think my scores would change today, I am still doing what I can physically, running and exercising several times a week but I do not have the time to do more and I would like to, so 6 it still is. As for spiritually I am working on it, but again do to scheduling I am not able to make it to service as much as I would like to so a 4-5 it will stay. I do plan on going to church more and have spoken to my family about how important it is to me that we go together. I hope that we make it happen but only time will tell. As for psychological I have seen a change! I think this is because I have been able to do job shadowing for the masters program that I am applying to as well as speak with other PA’s about the profession. I have also been running and taking time for myself, this means I am more willing for others to have my son and that has been a major breakthrough for me. This transition has been hard but worth it because I feel I have more time to dedicate to school as well as to projects that are important to me and do not need the assistance of a wonderful 4 year old.
1. Review the goals and activities you set for yourself in each area. Have you made progress toward the goals? Explain. AND 3. Have you implemented the activities you chose for your well-being in each of the three areas? Explain.
I have made goals and I am still working on them, I want to go to church and that sounds like something so simple but it is not for me and my family. This is something that I am working on and will continue to work on until we are all able to make it to church and happy with the church that we are attending. I am running/exercising more and that is wonderful for me. I am still working on my home fitness area but it is coming along quite nice, I am hoping to have it done within a week or so and that is achievable. This place will make my overall goal of running a ½ marathon faster than last year closer as I will be able to have the space to do more at home. My goal of letting people know how much I love them has been super fun to follow through with, with my son’s help we have made cards and colored pictures for people just because. We mail them and have gotten a great response, it is nice to know that we have been able to brighten someone’s day but because.
2. Summarize your personal experience throughout this course. Have you developed improved well-being? What has been rewarding? What has been difficult? How will this experience improve your ability to assist others?
I will be the first to say that when I learned we had to blog, I was not happy. I had never done it before and did not know how honest I could know that so many people would have access to what I was writing, but in the end I think I might have been to honest. This honesty has helped me to be honest with myself which I think I have not been that honest about something. I am happy that I had to take this class as it has made me understand me better and that will make be better in my current position as well as a medical provider when I am done with my master.
Unit 8.... The idea of continually working on goals keeps us growing and not being stagnant. Balance is an end not a solution, It is harmony that we seek. When we are able to keep ourselves open to any opportunity that crosses our path daily then we will experience the full benefit life has to offer. K
ReplyDeleteHi Momma Long,
ReplyDeleteI tend to find good motivational speakers when I can not find the time nor motivation to get my body into Church. For the last few months I have been traveling to Michigan City to work part time. I typically spend the night at my parents and I have allowed my academic profession to be number one priortiy. My brother had asked me several times to attend his Church. One day, after several invitation that I turned down I said to my self why not? I began attending his Church and have missed one sermon over the last month and half. IF if time does not allow in your schedule I encourage you to check out speakers on TV, the radio, and so forth. IF you have time check out this site: I started with "Those People" at and made it to a couple of Remedy sermons as well. http://valpograce.com/#/gracepoint-tv As far as speakers, we like Jessie Duplantis, Joel Olstein, Dr. Stanley.
I enjoyed your little experiment and how that has impacted you and your son's life.
Warm Regards to you and all your endeavors.
I want to thank you for being honest with yourself and your classmates. This has been a fruitfull class for all.
I LOVE YOU!
Mark
I as well has pretty much not moved much on the scale but at least up a little. I just need to find more time or organize my time better to be able to do more for my health and well being. Taking time for one's self is wonderful! It's hard to come by, lol, but wonderful! Good luck in your future! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Steph!
ReplyDeleteYou are doing GREAT as a Mama, student, fellow classmate, and trainer! Keep it all up :) The fact that you plan on pursuing your masters degree shows how dedicated you are to yourself, your family, and those you want to help. I'm especially glad to hear that you want to start going to church. I know that it could be a difficult feat at times, but once you actually bring yourself to start going, it becomes part of your life. I think that making and mailing cards to those you care about with your son is such a rewarding activity. Yes, you brighten up the days of others, but you are also teaching your son to be as thoughtful and caring, and it is also another way to spend quality time with him - that's 3 birds with 1 stone! Anyway, Best wishes and countless blessings to you!
Your blog was awesome! Change takes time, so don't sweat the fact your scores didn't change. In fact my didn't either. My big downfall is all the negative self-talking I do. I learned a very valuable lesson throughout this course, that I need to remove the negative from my frame of mind and focus on the positive in the now. After all what we resist persists.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to you!
Hi Stephanie,
ReplyDeleteGreat job of persisting with experiences that may have been out of your comfort zone. That is one of the main ways we grow.
Any aspect of your life, mind, body or spiritual, that you can use the skills learned in this course with in my opinion is a success.
Being receptive to new ideas, and seeking to incorporate them into your life's routine is very challenging for most people, I applaud your efforts and willingness. Best of fortune to you, and keep the momentum going. Sa Mut Angela Scott/Mama Yoga
Stephanie,
ReplyDeleteI wish you the best of luck in your goals! I know that it can be very challenging sometimes to accomplish many things due to schedules and interruptions. You have to stay strong, and gradually improve things along the way! :)
Stephanie,
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of sending I love you cards just because. I think I will do the same. I want to encourage you there is a church out there that you will feel at home in do not give up. It is a wonderful experience when the family can worship together.
Denise
Hello Momma,
ReplyDeleteI think that in order for us to develop, our spiritual area is not mandatory or required going to church, there is other ways you can develop your spiritual life. You can study the bible at your house and learn from the big book. You can pray for a few minutes every morning or every night, you can develop a good communication between you and your divine self, and you can connect with God through talking to him in your prayers. These are only some ideas I have and I try to practice for myself, hope it works for you.
